Many different eyes holding many different values have assessed this case in the last 18 years.

This is no longer just about a slain family member; this is about affording the respect to all of those that are sworn to step between us and an oncoming bullet or potential harm.

I could certainly explain to you about our heartfelt pain and sorrow we have suffered like we did last year, but apparently that was not powerful enough. With that said let’s be objective!
- There was a police officer running to the rescue of a citizen screaming for help.
- Officer Mark MacPhail, without hesitation, followed his training and his duty and entered the situation.
- Mark MacPhail was shot multiple times by Davis with the intent to KILL him!

When there is no respect for the people that are in a position of power then there is no actual power and none of US are safe!
___________________________________________________________________
When an officer can no longer control a situation then again……………none of US are safe!
If there is no fear of consequences then there is no deterrence. If killing a police officer gets no greater punishment, then again…………….none of US are safe!

The death penalty is specifically for extreme punishment, if it is not given for the murder of a police officer, then when? What circumstances would be extreme enough?
___________________________________________________________________
Police officers offer a sense of relief and control and comfort for the general public, without this control, we will all be carrying guns in an effort to defend ourselves from predators that have NO respect for us or our property.

Why would anyone want to become an officer if they are simply targets that are afforded no greater respect then the murders themselves?

Without officers where do you and I turn for help?

IT IS OUR DUTY to respect the people that step between us and life’s hazards and afford them the justice they deserve by applying the death penalty that has been ordered. We must show the officers that daily step between us and the bullets that:
- THERE IS JUSTICE
- THEY ARE RESPECTED
- THEY ARE APPRECIATED
- WE DO SUPPORT THEM
- WE WILL ENSURE THEIR INTERESTS ARE TAKEN CARE OF; JUST AS THEY DO FOR US!
We have followed the law, we have played by the rules, and those that are in positions of power have made their decisions along this long sorrowful trip. It is time we delivered the appropriate punishment and show our communities we believe in them and we will do what we need to do to ensure we are all safe. The rules are in place for a reason, we all have to abide by them. They are there for the safety of ALL of us.
Kathy (MacPhail) McQuary youngest sister of Officer Mark Allen MacPhail
