Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary
The Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary was organized to unite families of members of the Fraternal Order of police; to promote their welfare socially, morally and intellectually; and to encourage them in all things pertaining to their good. In 1920, a group of wives of Pittsburgh police officers gathered to discuss issues concerning their husbands and their jobs. This was the birth of what is now called the FOP Auxiliary. Today's Auxiliary has over 2,000 members in 140 Lodges around the country in 25 states. The Columbus Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary was recently recognized as the Most Outstanding FOP Auxiliary in the United States. Our local Auxiliary can also boast as the Home Auxiliary of the FOP National Auxiliary Treasurer Charlotte Scoggins and Georgia FOP Auxiliary President Amy Spear. The local FOP Auxiliary is very involved in fund raising for several charities such as Easter Seals of West Georgia, Concerns of Police Survivors and the Law Enforcement Memorial Service held during National Police Week each year. |
